Fly fishing the bow river

40 miles of nutrient rich water downstream from the city of Calgary, Alberta. The Bow River is a typical western River with riffles and pools. The stretch of river we would be floating arguably has the hardest fighting and most acrobatic wild rainbows and bulldogging browns anywhere in North America. Trout on the Bow river are typically in the
18-20 inch inch class with trout in the 22 to 26 inch being caught quite regularly. There is also the occasional big bull trout encountered from time to time and a large population of rocky mountain whitefish. The Bow has an abundance of insect life offering fly fishermen the opportunity to cast rising trout on pale morning duns, caddis flies, tiny fallen trico spinners and maybe even stone flies. Even excellent terrestrial action (HOPPERS!!!) if conditions are right.
